To Break or Not to Break

I have been working on the story for a few weeks straight. From the time I get up to the time I finally have to turn the comp off at 4 am so my eyes don't burn out of their sockets. Today I worked on the Outline a lot but a thought occurred to me in the middle of it.  I should really put it aside, let it marinate, and read a book.  I don't think I've read anything in the past few months (books I have read, I've read more than twice. Do they still count?)

Building a story is exciting (if not a bit frustrating but that isn't happening much at the moment).  But, I feel the need to read something else for awhile and go back to my w.i.p with fresh eyes.  It just that, it's SO BLOODY HARD to tear myself away from it!

I was even envious of my husband the other day because he had a dream about the story. (When he explained it it was hilarious and insightful even.  But still....I only get day dreams and short spurts of visions in my minds eye. I'm not complaining, its better than nothing. However, to live an exciting part of the story through lucid dreaming would be ........well I don't know,  I haven't had the experience.  I'm hoping that I will tho and unlike my husband I won't have a part of me in the back of my  mind yelling, "It's the BOOK! Wake up! Your dreaming about the damn book!"  I had a hell of a great time on the way to work that day listening to him say this every time my MC commanded him to do something. But, there was another part of him that was like, "Hang on. Let's see how this plays out."   .............Priceless.

My hours got cut at work next week so I'm giving myself until the end of this week to get notes, scenes, research, etc, in order then I'm gonna stick it in the "Drawer of Marination" ....aka, the bedside drawer, then I'm gonna find me a book and vegetate for a few days.

I will admit that the last time I tried to read anything that wasn't research was Neil Gaimans "American Gods" which is extremely interesting (was halfway through) but for some reason I was sidetracked and never got a chance to get back to it. It's been to long now, and I think I'm now in the mood for dragons.
