Memories buried deep..

I have been working on the novel most of the day.  Outlining, structuring, creating new scenes, revamping old scenes, etc. When I got to the scene where you get to meet the Main Character for the first time on her own.........I choked.

This is the scene where you get to find out what this fabulous character is made of when she was a child. Unfortunately for me, that means that I am going to have to dig up some old memories and emotions that I have spent many moons trying to bury (not saying I haven't come to terms with them, just saying that there's a lot of emotion involved). The ever present advice of "Write what you know" is now a conflicted feeling of "Write what you don't want to remember".

Conflict. Drama. Emotion. Failure, Success. Pain. Loss. Betrayal. All in the mind, actions, and reactions of a child.  If I can't even bring myself to think about it yet, how in the world do I expect to write this story that is full of all the above and more?

Time for some deep thinking. Which will involve a shovel and flashlight.

(plops head on desk)

Oh wait! On a lighter note. My husband told me this morning that he had another dream about my book. Teehehehehe.  He was talking to one of the main characters about building a GIANT tank to hold a GIANT creature. (there are specifics here but I can't be specific because that would spoil the novel). While the two debate which is better, glass or plexiglass, he said that my head popped out of no where and said , "Hey, use metal bars!" Then it disappeared.  They both thought about it and both agreed it was a "stupid idea". Pffft, what does she know? Silly woman. All the water would escape if you used metal bars. Geeez.
So they go back to debating. Then POP, there I am, full body right in front of them and I say, "It's going to be underwater! It doesn't matter if the water escapes! Geez, didn't you read my book?!" Then I vanish.
My husband then said, "Book? Awww man, I'm dreaming about the damn book again! Go away, go away."
Then he wakes up.

(giggles happily.  And have been since he told me this 10 hours ago.)
