It came to me...

In a scene.  One that has been rolling around in the back of my mind for awhile but I didn't realize that it was one of those scenes with hidden meaning (did you get the irony in that statement?)

I mentioned a creature with a role but hadn't fleshed out exactly who or what he was except that I've only been able to define a couple things which one is his species in the majority of the story (no, I did not state what species, just that he's portrayed as an animal).

Well, I finally wrote that scene out today and guess what happened...His origins came to me.  His story came to me.  His BIG secret was revealed and lucky him, he will be getting a story of his own with his picture on the cover one day.

Which brings me to...Character traits.

I've decided that the next two weeks (starting today) I will be working on character traits of at least the characters that get more than a mention in the story.  I'm a bit torn with this idea because, up til now, all the traits that have been showing up on paper have all been from intuition.  Their role, personifications, backstory, etc, came from somewhere deep in my head (I would like to think so anyways).  Defining them more before I have a lot more scenes written out, to me, seems like stifling their potential.  Then again, after writing that scene today and making two characters into one was just positively awesome.

**Did you know that there is fear in the making of the unknowing into the knowing?  That's the thought I just had as I was explaining being torn about writing out Character Traits. I'm starting to wonder if this is a "writer" thing.   Organic vs. Formula?  (Must...stop...self...from...over thinking this or my head implodes)
