Besides screwing up a great opportunity to get a kick ass T from a great blogger about writing/writer, I threw caution to the wind and had someone (who professed that they not only don't read much but don't even read the genre I'm writing in) read the first chapter (extremely rough draft to boot) of my story.
Yeah. It's one of those days that I apparently give the finger to practical sense and:
1) Dont pay attention to important info before clicking buttons
2) While working on structuring the first chapter, I lose my mind and go "Hey, read this and tell me what you think." to someone I've had a rocky "co-worker" relationship with.
3) ........Did you know that you can lock yourself out of your own bank account if you try to log in for the first time on an Iphone!? I sure as hell didn't.
However, out of all those things (which one is still in the, "probably screwed thyself" land til tomorrow), the co-worker surprised me. At first it wasn't the whole chapter, just the first page. When she got to the end of it she flipped it over and said, "So what happens????" What more encouragement could one ask for?
I gave her the second page. She giggled, she awwed, she "Oh my." Exactly in the places that I wanted. (I've read and read and read those pages so many times and after mentally timing her on her reading speed with the first page, it wasn't hard to estimate her pace with this page.)
At the end of that she asked, "Where does she go?!" She was actually excited.....
Tomorrow (errrm...today) is my day off so I will be devoting it to writing. I'm excited too.
No more freaking notes!
............O.o
